Session Title

Parenteral Nutrition During Post-Bariatric Pregnancy With Late Dumping Syndrome and Intra-Uterine Fetal Growth Restriction

About the Presentation

More women now enter pregnancy after bariatric surgery. While these pregnancies are generally safe, they can bring complex nutritional and gastrointestinal challenges for both mother and baby. Dr. Tan's session focuses on a pregnancy complicated by late dumping syndrome and intra-uterine fetal growth restriction, and on the role of parenteral nutrition when oral and enteral feeding cannot meet the demands of pregnancy.

Attendees can expect a case-based discussion on:

  • Nutritional and physiological challenges of pregnancy after bariatric surgery
  • Recognising and managing late dumping syndrome during pregnancy
  • Considerations when fetal growth restriction emerges
  • Decision-making behind initiating parenteral nutrition
  • Multidisciplinary collaboration across gastroenterology, nutrition, obstetrics, and surgery
  • Practical lessons for clinicians managing similar cases
