Her doctoral research focuses on examining how language, cognition, and theory of mind influence the academic performance of adolescents within the Indian context.

Her core clinical and academic interests span dysphagia and adult communication disorders, with a strong emphasis on evidence-based assessment and intervention practices. Lakshmi has authored Scopus-indexed research publications and has presented her work at numerous national and international scientific platforms. She has also served as a resource person for specialized academic workshops, contributing to professional training and capacity building in her field.

In her current role, she actively mentors postgraduate students and participates in curriculum development and quality enhancement initiatives within speech and hearing sciences. Her professional journey is driven by a commitment to advancing research, fostering meaningful interdisciplinary collaborations, and ultimately improving patient care outcomes through innovative and informed clinical practices.
